I'm getting excited, tomorrow is Derby Day and Sue(my cousin) and I will have a booth there. I hope we do well. I have a good variety of stuff to bring this time. I was able to make 5 small hanging baskets. I put a couple candles in 3 of them and the other 2 I am going to put fresh flowers in. I decorated 4 of them with embellishments. I put some vintage paper flowers on some, a star on the blue one for the 4th and a red heart on another. One I made with my Florida basket supplies, palm coir and palm tree parts. One I left plain. I'll post some photos later, forgot to take pictures last night. I also ended up with 7 pillows all together, 5 made with the hankerchiefs and 2 with lace and beads. Maybe this time I will actually sell one! I thought pillows would be an easy sell but it so far that isn't happening.
Wish me luck,

Thursday
Haven't written in a while, been busy getting ready for Derby Day. I have a nice variety to show this time, I decided I am going to bring everything this time. Seems like you can't judge what will sell and what will not. I think variety is good to have too. Stop by and see my booth if you can, I should be almost directly in front of the phone comapny building on Elizabeth St, across form Connies restaurant. I finally got to make some pillows I have been thinking about. I used old floral hankerchiefs and remmants of chenille and silk. They came out pretty cool, now the hard part, how much to charge for them. I was thinking in the $20 range, still not sure yet. Hope to see you on Saturday

Tuesday
Today I was able to give my friend the purse I had made for her. I'm pretty sure she liked it, she moved all her stuff over form her old one right away so I guess that is a good sign. I told her it came with strings attached though, anytime anyone asks her about it she has to give out one of my business cards. A little marketing strategy on my part. Plus they were pants she had donated to me to use to make a purse, only fitting she should get them back. It is my first attempt at appliquéing on these bags. Plus I made her a glitter initial, love that glitter.

Sunday
Wow-busy weekend again. Last night I threw myself a 50th birthday party, it was an absolute blast. Invited all my family and a couple of my bestest friends so it wasn't huge. We had a excellent game of "sockball', which is basically wiffle ball but you use a rolled up sock wrapped in duct tape instead. Makes it a little more interesting. Then my daughter had made a pinata in the shape of a strawberry, very appropriate for this time of year. And we also had a fireworks display after it got dark. Everyone had a good time, no major mishaps and it appears no major hangovers. It has taken my husband and myself all day to get the yard cleaned up but it was worth it. The weather held off, it didn't rain while the party was going on thank goodness although it was cloudy and damp all evening. Now that all the festivities between myself and our daughter are done I can down in the basement and get crafting. i am still trying to get some pillows made out of old hankerchiefs, I have a bunch and I am trying to think of ways I can use them. I did frame a couple and that is interesting. I think the pillows could be a big hit. I won't know unless I can get some made.

Thursday
What to do crafts or yard work? Maybe I can squeeze in both today. It is beautiful out there. Today would be a good day to switch gears and start making some baskets for my upcoming craft fair since I can work on those outside and not have to be in the basement sewing. I will be at Derby Day (Derby CT) on the 23rd of this month. I know my baskets have always been well received as gifts, I would like to see how they will sell. i better get going the day is wasting!

Wednesday
Today I have to do some more non craft chores. Bummer. I will be able to work on something this afternoon I hope. Off to help my sister with something and then I volunteered to go along with my husband and our daughter to chaperon a trip to a baseball game. The chorus is singing the national anthem at tonights game. It will be fun I'm sure and probably our last chance to go on a field trip with our daughter. I did make a really cute bag last night for a good friend. I will post a photo after I give it to her just in case she does read my blog!

I just figured out how to add pictures to my posts! So here is one of the 8th grade dance my husband and I helped out with for our daughter. It was an island paradise theme and I choose to do a wall as an undersea scene. I painted all the characters and fish myself and used my daughters face for the mermaid. On another wall I did another mermaid with her best friends face.
